I have the honour to request your approval
of the revision of the salary scale of the Steward in
the Medical Department. Since the opening of the Queen Mary Hospital and with the continued expansion of medical services this officer's duties and responsibilities have
been considerably increased. His duties, which are
multifarious, include the control of all medical stores other than the Principal Matron's and Apothecary's, supervision and control of menial staff, checking delivery of provisions, etc., preparing indents and orders and
supervising expenditure on votes dealing with stores and
non-technical hospital equipment. His present scale of
salary is £400 to £500 by six increments of £15 and one
of £10; and the occupant of the post, Mr. F. P. Anslow, has been on the maximum of the scale since 28th November,
1932. He is reported to perform his duties in a very efficient and conscientious manner.
2.
I recommend that the scale be extended by
five further increments of £15 to a maximum of £575 per
annum. This is the same maximum as that of senior
